Lauren is a sophomore majoring in Biology with minors in Psychology and Film. She is also a student-athlete for the NC State swim team. She is fascinated with neuroscience because she loves to learn about the brain’s biological influence over what makes every human unique; from emotions and personality to prejudices and traumas. She wants to learn more about the development of psychological disorders and how medicine can be implemented to treat maladaptive brain states. When not in the lab, studying, or swimming, she is master-chefing or epically failing at new recipes, exploring the city and the great outdoors, emotionally crumbling over cats, watching a good movie, or consulting the internet on the randomest question she had while doing the aforementioned.

Lauren is currently working on a project assessing the effects of perinatal exposure to flame retardants on mast cells in the adult brain.
