Helen Watson is a Sophomore at NC State double majoring in Biology and Chemistry.  She has been fascinated by the brain since high school, and would love to work at uncovering its mysteries in her future career.  She is particularly interested in mental health, sleep science, and degenerative disease.  An all-around science nerd, Helen loves learning about botany and horticulture, so one of her favorite hobbies is gardening and caring for an extensive collection of houseplants.  In addition, she enjoys spending time outdoors, baking, reading, and hanging out with her labrador retriever Ernest. She is currently working on assessing the effects of manipulating mast cell receptor expression on brain neuroinflammatory responses using immunohistochemistry, microscopy, and complex analysis of microglia structure.
